A section of the Lax Weir on the Clare shore was recently cleared of ivy, underneath it revealed part of the remains of the caretakers house.

I believe my grandfather or great grandfather was a manager of the Lax Weir in the early 1920s. He lived either at 7 or 10 Lock Quay in the city.

In death notices Limerick Chronicle 1918 and 1920, is a little writeup on Patrick and son Michaels death.It states that Patrick was Manager of Lax Weir Company.

Do you know where the word lax originated? In New York, lox is a style of brined or smoked salmon, so I presume it has the same origin.
